Thiru. Mohan worked as an Auto-Rickshaw Driver almost
for 13 years. One day while riding an auto-rickshaw, he
saw a lady lying in street in pathetic condition. She was
resembles his mother, so he took her to his house and
provided care. Soon he realized that "So many elder people are living in the streets
and have no one to care for them”. He dedicated his life to the welfare of these
people. But, Mohan doesn’t know how to do it. He started to help these elders by
giving some food, and clothes.
In 2002, Mohan took home on rent with the help of his friends and started to provide
temporary shelter for abandoned elders/baggers. Later in December, he registers his
work in the name of SHARON SOCIETY OF PONDICHERRY as a Society. By this
time Mohan had already learned about Non-profit Organizations and started to
participate in activities organized for social welfare by these organizations. He also
started to develop network with disabled people and liaison with government
departments.
In 2008, Mohan established Pushpgandhi Home for Aged to provide alternative
shelter to elderly widows. Now, the Home is filled with more than 20 happy-aged
faces. So far 87 elderly widows already have benefited. Later, Mohan started so
many projects to help homeless people, the disabled and young widows. He is alsox
passionate to support future generations in studies. Mohan is a very strong believer
and says “God has chosen me for this work”.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly fall on floors or surfaces. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within close proximity of someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth.
Due to COVID 19, the entire country was a lockdown and all factories and workplaces shut down. As a result, many migrant workers are left with no livelihood. They thus decide to walk hundreds of kilometers to go back to their native villages. But many of them stuck due to no transport facilities.
In such a tough time, we decided to do our part to help these daily wages workers from community and Municipality Workers, Auto Drivers, Frontline Health Workers, abandoned elders, and children with CANCER & their parents.
